Cool

My dealer has told me that they're waiting for DINAN to provide aftermarket parts, but WHY have they waited so LONG for this issue to come , when in fact others already have some prototypes available? Like a gentleman stated on another thread they might charge us MORE!!!

I got this message in a reply to my dealer. She had told me she has a Dinan chip in her S already:

Dinan makes the chip upgrade and it will give you approximately 10-18 horsepower. There is a cold air intake that would increase the horsepower about 30. It would not affect your MINI warranty. I am unsure of the pricing but will look into that today.

I am waiting to hear back

That cannot be right. As my dealer is a Dinan dealer, we have no Dinan upgrade parts or reprograms available yet. I was just wondering if anyone knew about anything up and coming. Its possible that your friend has pre-production stuff, but nothing has been released. Usually you guys know more than the dealers do, so that's why I asked.

She's not a friend just the sales person that I am dealing with at Mini of Towson. Let me also add that I have no confirmation that what she is saying is true or not. Just passing on what I was told.

30 HP from cold air intake????

someone from Dinan told you you'd get 30 hp from a cold air intake???! [snicker] not likely... mebbe 3 to 6...

hope Dinan has better dyno'd supported claims to back that one up...

Suspect the hold up is the liscensing and royalty agreements vis a vis, those few Mini US dealerships who will be able to do the aftermarket work and still keep the warranty, involves at least 3 different parties to work.

So, was it Margaret? Towson BMW has always been a Dinan dealer, and is supposed to be one for MINI whenit's available. Let me know, because I didn't think any of the sales people there owned a MINI (I could be wrong...it happened once).

Been like two weeks,,,what does Margaret say about her "chipped" MCS?

I must have not been paying more attention to my driving than her talking, because she said they do not have a chipped car there. She did repeat her estimates of 8-10 for the chip and ~30 for chip plus cold intake.

My dealer in Southern California said (on Saturday) in about 6 months the Dinan upgrades would be out. He also mentioned on a Cooper it would bump it +15 or 16 HP with chip and cold air (not sure if there is any exhaust system.)

Racing Dynamics, Electrodyne?

Check www.racdyn-usa.com and www.electrodyne.cc. These guys are friends of mine in the US, and they will have a cold air intake and exhaust that work nicely with the Superchips software. Estimated power increase is 12-15hp, with 8 of that coming from the software alone. The intake will be ready in a couple of weeks, as they have been using my car to design it. BTW, the yellow and black MINI on their site... is mine!!! And it does look awesome with the new springs.

I just wanted to clear things up with the Cooper S and the Dinan Chip thing: Read carefully
Margaret does have a chip in her car, but her car is a BMW M Coupe not a MINI COOPER S. So there is no chip in a Mini Cooper S at Towson or owned by a dealer.

But it is true that Dinan is working on a chip, I have also contacted a gentleman that informs me that Jim C. himself is playing with the Mini ECU. Now this is really what we should be waiting for a Jim Conforti Chip!!!

My service technician told me this afternoon that he's fairly certain that the Dinan upgrade will be out around Christmas for the "S" and will most likely be a chip, cold air intake and exhaust. He was estimating $2,000 with labor.
