Alta Intake (sound?)

I just installed an Alta intake (with silicon hose)

I love the increased blower whine and intake noise! However, I notice an air-hissing/whistle that occures at about 1/3 throttle and drops off a few hundred RPMs later. IS THIS NORMAL? I double checked the fitment of the hose to the throttle body and it seems to be sealed. I just want to make sure this sound isn't being caused by an inpropper seal of the hose.

Thanks

Yep, normal.

It kinda bugs me a bit on the highway as it flutters on and off at around 110km/h in 6th. But otherwsie, the ALTA is perfect. Can't imagine the car without it now.

Ah, I get exactly the same with my K&N Typhoon, and like you I checked all connections. Nice to know it's normal!

I cant handle the noise of my Alta/Uni filter hybrid anymore.. Its driving me crazy and ruining the driving experience for this "35 y/o old fart".. I am going to order a new smaller uni filter element and put the rear wall back in to hopefully quieten it down a bit.

John.

Yeah I can do that Liam but its just going to be a shoter filter. The current one is 160mm lomg where as the new one will be 90mm long.

Before i spend the money I would like to hear peoples experiences with running the Alta with the wall in and out!!! Is the sound alot quieter in the cabin with the wall in?

John.

Although they do suggest cutting the rubber strip above the rear wall. I chose to leave the strip stock for now.

Liam is talking about the rubber not the wall, leaving the rubber in place isnt going to block any air, just gives you the option of putting the wall back in when you get sick of all the noise and not having your rubber cut up.
