Share the MTH wealth!!

MTH, brilliant!!! I love the idea of two tuning files and my original, and I love the price. But, I don't have a laptop and I don't have an OBD socket replicator.

Add the purchasing of those 2 items to the cost of the files and I start thinking an AMD oneclick is looking like a pretty good option!!!

So I have a cunning plan!

From reading the many replies in the MTH thread it seems alot of people around the world have the required setup. So wouldn't it be great if people with the laptop and OBD gear listed here where they were and if they were willing, for a few brews or the like, to help their fellow Miniologists improve their cars performance.

For example.

A like minded individual from Mini2 downloads my file to his laptop, I send it to MTH and purchase the 300 Euro pack of Standard and Tuner files. I then meet up with or go and visit the guy again and we upload to my mini. Beer (or whatever) changes hands, all happy!

Any questions? Anyone spot any flaws?

Only flaw is when you want it uploaded again.... you have to go and see your friend again.

With my One-Click i simply take it out the glovebox and plug it in!!

AMD oneclick £399

Second 4 pack of Stella £4.76

Hmmmmmm......................... lol

Oneclick has its place, but in my mind its expensive and doesn't give the results I'm after.

Gives pretty good results IMHO..... I get VERY strong performance from my Cooper.

I can revert back to standard in 4 minutes, thus not affecting my warranty...so to me, it's priceless.

Put your PC in the garage or on the drive next to the car.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. These are two similar and great products, aimed at slightly different markets.

For those of us who are out of warranty or have modded our engines and therefore given BMW a myriad of excuses to not honour the warranty, the AMD onclick holds little advantage over other modding methods.

But this is getting away from the point of this thread. I'm interested if any of the Mini2 users out there would be interested in helping out other users mod there car once they have decided on an MTH upgrade, not wether or not a MTH upgrade is worth while.

I know some MINI2ers do share laptops and cables for this, though they don't shout too loudly about it.
Might be worth you being a bit more specific on your location, somebody may contact you privately then

Security cameras would be first on my wish list for the car park given the recent spate of breakins! Grrrrrrrrrr

if the council force you to park there, ask them for some CCTV......they can only say no, which they probably will do!

Worth a go though!

tit is ok getting someone to help you at your house but in car parks its a bit didgy, as a friend of mine on here, did it for someone in macdonald carpark and his laptop failed half way thru loading the file, which resulted in not being able to start the guys car! which meant a right (kufuffel) going to fetch another laptop to load the file!!

i just get my mate to post me the leads whenever i want to load files into my ecu, or i now have another mate which lives 2 minutes away from me that has the leads!!

all in all my file cost 50 quid and thats a tuner file now i had it updated

well worth the money
