GTT220 lots of good news... any bad?

Have read lots (and lots and lots!) of good news about GTT and am very much thinking about the GTT220 upgrade. However, I know it'll be just my bad luck that if I went with it something would happen that I would not be able to afford to fix, and that BMW will not cover with the remaining warranty (well, all thats left of it!). Has anyone had any experience of this or any issues with GTT conversions?

Please don't take this as a dig at GTT as I am very much impressed with what I have heard. As I am not as rich as I would like to be I still have to be a little careful about possibly being financially bu**ered if the engine blows up!!

Cheers
for any feedback

I shall read into the lack of response as "don't be such a blithering idiot, nothing has gone wrong. Just go out and get it done!"

Good advice!

I have had both the 220 and 260 conversion and if I was to do it again which I am doing when my new car gets delivered on the 2nd Jan I would go to MiniMania.

My car has been there for a couple of days to get put back to standard and they have been fantastic, there knowledge and customer service has been amazing and Martin / Chris are never too busy to explain everything to you or take you for a spin in there car

The reason for not going back to GTT is I have had some problems including a dead engine and the car never put out what I expected for the money I spent to be honest I have been pretty disapointed although Roland has helped fix the car when he could but it did take quite a long time to get done.

Anyway not having a dig at anyone im just going from experience and on that I would go with MiniMania

Jamie

Hi Jonesy,

I guess the only thing a GTT conversion (or any hp upgrade for that matter) would do is accentuate and find the weakest point, which you could argue would fail anyway just a lot further down the road.

I have a GTT220+ conversion and love it , now 4k miles + and no issues.
In fact the harder you drive it the better it gets :-)

Things like the GTT tensioner stop and the quality of the pulley stuff are also over engineered so are far better than the original items and the stop from what ive read could potentially save you ££££ .

Just go for it , do your research on here cos there are lots of alternatives to GTT as well.
Make up your own mind. GGR / West Tuning to name but a few others.

Personally though I drove 7hrs each way to GTT :-)
