if i wanted 230 bhp i would have paid for that.not the extra £2000 for no extra horses.
temp.that day was 13*C

So what was you getting with the 210 West Tuning package? As you can see I have the West Tuning 260 package and I got 263 on the dyno. Be carefull with the dyno's there are a lot of miss calculated results due to the dyno not being performed in the correct manner...

Which american shop can i get them from?

PS. I dunno about which pulley to get yet. I've read on randy webb's site that the 15% is the most reliable but no one can give me an indication as to the power/torque/etc differences between the 15 and 17% pulleys, and reliability issues as well.

BMW want in the $1000 vicinity

I'm sure Randy Webb or Detroit Tuning can hook you up! I tried to buy through Helix with no success.

hmm, yeh see that's one of my problems. The only problem i've heard with a 17% pulley is with a guy that didn't fit a proper belt, but randy webb says that the 15% pulley is the most reliable, and it doesn't require a new belt. He also says that Alta is the best one to get. But i speak to a guy that has a 17% pulley, and he says his car is a rocket.

Yeah a 15% is the safest route. I think the ProMini pulley is every bit as good as the Alta.

To be honest you couldnt class a Mini as a rocket. A nice fun car yes but a rocket no.

how much power difference is there between the 15 and the 17, do you reckon?

The biggest advantage of the smaller pulleys is the boost coming on earlier, which is great for day to day street use.

yeh true. so how much earlier, and i'm assuming the power difference is negligible between the two?

Power difference isnt huge, there has been some good dyno comparisons over on NAM showing good torque increases when running the 19%. Power comes on 500-1000rpm earlier.

If your worried about reliability and not able to do the work yourself if something goes wrong? just do the 15%

well i'm definately not doin the 19%, but tossing up between 15 and 17, but, i've heard good things about both.

But the thing is i dunno how to do the work if something goes wrong. By the way, what can go wrong exactly?

Possible belt issues "however this doesnt seem to be a problem with the 17%". possible charger failure etc etc.

yeh. But if i get a belt designed to cope with the 17% pulley, that should be ok. Those charger probs are probably expensive.... what to do....

Very expensive if you have to pay labour & BMW Australia prices for the charger I just replaced mine with a UK Ebay unit and total cost including freight was under $500Aus doing my own labour.

I havnt had any belt issues with the 19% it looked like brand new after a few thousands K's.

Sorry for the hi-jack of this thread... we better get back on topic.

Well reading this makes you wonder what is factual and what isn't. Guess there's a lot to be said for sticking with the JCW route afterall.
