Hamman Rims in OZ

Just thought some of you guys might want to know.

Donnellons in Melbourne (Box Hill actually) have Hamman rims in stock, the 17s were about $650 each from memory (I didn't write it down..).

I'd love some, but can't at the moment..

How heavy are those Hamann??? I love them, in fact I wanted to put them on my 325ci until I decided to sell it. You wanna buy my S-lites when I get them Mr Mow? What colour is your car? I may have seen you on the road. You have a silver and black roof Cooper???

Yup, silver and black with the driving lights on the front, and star 5 spokes (which probably sums up a lot of the silver coopers on the road!).

I'm not sure about the weight of the Hammans, they LOOK heavy to me, but I think its psychological!

Do a search on this site, someone has them and may have the weight. Come in 18s too.

S lites, they the big 8 spoke mini lite stye wheels? Maybe I would be... (seems that OZ don't make the Tourismo rim for the Mini)

I think I may have seen you around a few times. I always see this young Asian dude driving around the city in the Silver and Black Cooper I am referring to. In fact, it was the first Cooper I saw on Australian roads. I think there is also another young Asian P-plater with the same car as you. Saw him zooming down towards Box Hill from Doncaster last Saturday. Maybe it was you?

Yeah, those 17's are the ones I am referring to. One little problem, I think mine are white. I am not even sure. My car is a pre-spec and I am just taking whatever the car comes with. I don't even like the wheels much, which is why I am offering to sell it to you. Maybe I can get the dealer to swap for a silver one...

The OZ that would fit the Mini would be the Superleggera. Not too bad. $595 each for 17x7.

Ha Ha, I'm not asian! (though my friends disagree.. no I'm not a white guy who listens to CantoPop!) If you are going off the Mr Mow name, long story that!
Where'd you get the $595 for the superleggera? The guy at Donnellons told me OZ rims were between $400 and $500, maybe he got it wrong.. These wheels get expensive quick!

Hahaha. You sound like a few of my non-Asian friends who are more Asian than I am.

I found out the price of the OZ from the importer. Could probably get them cheaper from tyre shop maybe. I called Hamann importer this evening and the cost of those 17's are $685 each, which is quite dear for 17's.

Try Donnellons Box Hill, I was amazed at their prices, especially the $310 for a 17 Pirelli Zero, I assumed a 17 would be something like $600 or $700.

But yeah, while $650 or so sounds a good price in theory for a wheel, I guess when you add a tyre and then have to buy 3 more.. $4500 is a fair bit to spend on something that is probably more cosmetic than anything. (then again it seems sort of cheap when the dealer told me some BM rims cost $2000 EACH)

Yeah, I was surprised by the price of the P Zero myself. But that is for a W rated tyre, not Z rated. Granted, it's not going to make that huge a difference. Is the price you have been given for 205/45/17? I am thinking about 215/45/17, of which there are much more choices. Also the new P Zero Nero comes in that size.

Hey Mr. Mow, are you interested in the s-lite 17's in silver? I have to know today. Got a call from Mini this morning, and they might be able to track down a set of silver 17's for me. I will offer the rim and tyres to you at $2000, which is a real bargain. What do you think??? I will be picking up my car early next week.

Thanks for the offer, but I probably wouldn't be able to in the next couple of weeks sorry. $2000 is a good price though. Surely the dealer (Southbank?) could do you a deal?
(I'm waiting on the allmighty tax return!!)

If you are serious about it, I will hold on to it for you. Hell, to help a fellow Mini driver I will even knock $100 off the price just so you have something that looks nice. But I need you to be serious about it, as I will need to confirm with the boys at Southbank. If not, I am just going to get them to put on a set of standard 16's (which they say they can do and just take away the extra $1100). It is not going to cost you much at the end of the day, as you will be able to sell your 16's. I just thought this would be a cheap way for you to get a nice set of wheels without having to pay heaps. Those run-flat 17's alone already cost $485 per tyre (from tyre shop, not BMW)!!!
