speedo inaccuracy

I have notice when I am passing thru a speed indicator (tells you how fast ur driving if ur over the speed limit) my speedo is slightly inaccurate.

I know the speed indicator to be usually correct having driven thru that road in a Honda Civic, Astra, and a Mercedes and it was all accurate.

When I drove my 2005 Mini (on stock 195/55/16) i drove it at 40mph on the speedo but it shows only 37mph on the speed indicator. I tested this a few times but its always 2-3mph out.

Does anyone else have this inaccuracy with their minis??? should i take it back to bmw?

That sounds about right to me... You will find that most cars will be out by a bit.

I've tested mine. According to the speedo I was doing 50km/h but according to the speed indicator sign I was doing about 45-46km/h.

Same thing here in the US. Mine reads about 4 MPH higher than it should.

I took the speedo apart, and there's nothing I can find to adjust. I didn't have
the enthusiasm to download the firmware and write somethign new.

Can back this up - had Road Angel and speedo both reading 130 (private track).
