Transmission oil?

Anyone know what the transmission oil for manual are for the mini? i'll jsut assume they are crappy. and move on to wht i'm about to suggest.

REDLINE OIL!!!

this stuff is the best manual transaxle oil you can get in the market. I personally recommend it 110%. It's full synthetic and RED!! oooOOOooo...

It makes shifting 10 times smoother.

Are you just promoting the oil? Or making a point for the MINI community to take into account?

According to the MIllers Oils here in the UK (they checked the oil out) BMW just put 10w40 into the gearbox as standard on the MINI. So you are right the standard gear oil on the MINI is useless to say the least. Have you run the Redline oil? How long?

MINI only has ONE gear box oil approved and it is definetely NOT engine oil. The oil is Texaco's (Chevron) MTF. Redline is a sound reputable company that uses only first class components. It does not, however, have MINI approval for its gear oil.

I have Mobil 1 for my trans oil... fully synthetic and lasts around 40,000 kms. Very smooth and made a big difference with gear shifts. Before I was grinding my way up for no good reason.

Use any good trans oil other than the Mini oil that they say would last the lifetime of the car.. haa! dumb asses

A "Fill for Life" fluid is cynically referred to in the industry as a "fluid that lasts the life of the component".......

I'm new to the site, and am racing at the BIC in Bahrain (the Mini Challenge). We've noticed that we are able to beat the 2nd gear syncros easily on upshifts...I'll try the Mobil 1 option...Thanks,
Stephen
