Bluefin for Cooper S

Hi

About a week ago or so i purchased a Bluefin from Lohen for my Cooper S, there seemed to be a fair bit of interest on here about it and all i can say is that its a great thing to do, the installation (if thats what you call it) was very simple and the results are great!

When i drove the car after first installing the software i could instantly tell there was much nicer throttle respose, similiar to the difference when pressing the sport button in bmw's, seems to make the fly-by-wire throttle actually do what you ask it to!

Ive been waiting until i had done the 500 miles which it apparently takes for the ECU to fully ajust to the new software before giving my oppinion on the Bluefin, and i have to say ive noticed a good power increase even since fitting!

It also has a nice little party trick now.... how can i load a movie onto here?

Anyways, i would say that its a great mod and if you even need to have the softward updated then you can easily send the unit back to superchips and they will do that for you.

go out and buy one!

Cheers

Sounds good.
I'm getting my cooper s remaped by BBR-GTI tomorrow so hoping I get the same results.I'm hoping for around 18bhp more.

What year Cooper S you got JonnyC? I've heard the results are less on a 2005 MCS as it already has 170bhp as opposed to earlier models 168bhp.

Have you noticed any good/bad effects in terms of fuel economy?

I was always impressed with the AMD OneClick which is basically the same thing. But easily I was most impressed with MTH since its free to get new maps for modifications and just upload.

Hey

My Cooper S is the 2005 model, that would probably make sense, think that most of the extra few bhp that the newer car has is down to mapping anyways, but there is still a noticeable increase in peformance and yes i also noticed a reasonable increase in fuel economy! (only when driving veeeeeeeery carefully)

Yep. a few HP... the amount of power chip tuning alone can produce is very limited.

Is it worth the money though for a few HP?

yeh i think that it is, for the increase in driveability and that bit more torque and power i think that is definately worth it, m sure theres other things which do it just aswel but i went for superchips purely coz i had a car re-mapped by them in the past, and i was really pleased with how that turned out aswel!

Cheers

Original BMW Cooper S was 163bhp. Sorry to be an ****. That would therefore be a considerably better investment, no?

Yes. Yes when you mix it with other modifications to give you a very nice performance increase. But it does make the car more responsive and companies like MTH have removed the yoyo and got more torque low down so the car actually gets going alot easier. Easier to drive in traffic and you get more fun from your money on fuel. On an MCS add a 15% pulley and larger intercooler for really good mpg.
