Steaming Bonnetscoop

I drive a MCS and find that if i do a good distance drive, then have to slow down to crawling pace, eg, Motorway into tailback, steam from the engine starts to escape through the bonnetscoop? The engine holds rock steady temp in the middle of the gauge and performance is fine.

Anyone have similar things happening to their cars?

It looks rather amusing. As long as there is nothing wrong then i'm happy.

Certainly this happens in the Rain or when there is some moisture in the air. Just been talking to a friend who is an MCS owner and reports the same thing. Glad its not just me then.

Thanks all.

It should be fine. the intercooler is designed to move heat from the supercharged air into the air coming through the scoop. People even pack ice onto the intercooler to improve performance... All of this comes with the health warning that I could be totally wrong of course

I have used ice cubes (without whiskey) on my intercooler during a set of track challenges (1/4 mile). It does help a bit with performance and did my car no harm.....I improved my 1/4 mile time by a few 10ths by doing this. I was a bit hesitant as first but all the Scooby guys were doing it.
No problem then. Just need a device to continuously feed ice cubes onto the intercooler as they melt........
