I have a 03 MINI S that needed a new flywheel to fix a faulty one. Before my repair I was getting 32 mpg just driving around town. That was pretty impressive to me. After the repair and colder weather set in, my gas mileage plummeted to 21 mpg. That's a big drop. So is the new flywheel to blame or the colder weather? Nothing else has changed. I have good heat in the cabin so I don't think it's bad thermostat, which I have heard can sometimes effect gas mileage. Any ideas would be appreciated.

To loose a third of you MPG would imply to me that the engine has not been set up again properly on being rebuilt.

Go back to the garage and get them to check.
