From my understanding they work by fooling a sensor attached to the ECU thus into pushing more fuel through to burn, creating bigger burn and more power. The problem is the "fooling" bit...Don't touch anything that fools the computer into doing something. The ECU has set perameters for fueling for a reason, fuel increase should be accompanied by either colder air or more air through forced induction not just by fooling a sensor into telling the ECU that there is more of one or the other...thats just plain dangerous as the fuel/air mix is wrong and will jsut do damage in one way or anouther...my advice is steer well clear. Do the job right...you want 15-20 bhp more go for an induction kit full exhaust system+remap...

If it sounds too good to be true then it usually is

I dont trust these resistors at all !! Richard makes some very good points too.

We always treat each MINI as in individual, as no two MINIs are alike !

Don't the resistors simply bypass the temp sensor, so the ECU thinks the engine is cooler/warmer that it actually is? Sounds good in theory, but what if your engine is over heating, you'll be knacked!
