Hi, thinking of spending my money on a CAI. But dont know which one to go for! Alta or K&N....Is there any difference in performance between them?? Anyone got any suggestions?

I've had a Monster MINI air intake, which use a K&N air filter and change for an Alta CAI after 1 year... The difference is incredible! A bit more torque, and the sound from the supercharger is also a lot better! It whistles at part throttle, and screams at high RPM! Just too addictive!

Without a doubt, get the Alta CAI and forget about K&N one!

Alta is a really good quality kit, I had one on my s, but due to insurance problems I took it off, and now got a JCW intake. The Alta is very loud! sounds good but depends if you can live with it day to day!

The jcw is just right in my opinion, if anything a little bit too quiet, but its good that you only get the noise at higher revs, so when your driving normally, it sounds the same as standard. Expensive but I think it was worth it

Ok, yeh its wht i thought, the best of both. the flap opens up at 4000rpm to give you the "noise". but everyday use its liveable.

just need to order the soundkit now!!

Cheers,
PJH

The JCW intake referenced in this thread is for the Cooper S and won't fit on your One

This is true, thanks, i was aware, just your were the first person with a JCW SK id come across. i have various sound clips of them both, n rekon that the valid points you made will be pretty much the same for the cooper's. re fitting the sound kit to a one, its pretty much a go just a question over the ECU upgrade if BM r prepared to do it. if so, it will be a Mini one Works!!!

thanks again,

I was going to go for the JCW , but its a bit 'too' expensive for an induction kit. Think i will definately go for the ALTA one.
Bradley99 what is the HAI kit??
