Pully and Air Filter advice

I will be taking delivery of a Cooper S Convertable next month. One of the dealer installed options is the JCW air filter kit ($550), and they offered to install a pully modification for around $600. The salesperson said would add 15HP and really improve performance here at the higher altitude in Denver. Anyone had this done and is it worth the price? Did you have any problems with this modification? Advise please.

I agree it's a worth while mod. Randy Webb is in the Denver area and he does lots of MINI mods. However, since it's a new car you might want to have the dealer do it to avoid any warranty issues later.

Definitely contact Randy Webb--Webbmotorsports.com. He will do better --for less and warranty the work. You can get an Alta CAI for $250.00--more noise--more flow. Have Randy put an exhaust on and you will be rockin'.

Just had JCW air filter upgrade kit which includes larger injectors and JCW software to add to the 17% pulley I already had. All were fitted by my dealer....result = ......so I think I can thoroughly reccomend it......dealer recons it is better than JCW at 20% of the price of the JCW kit............

Wow- you'd never get a dealer to do that in UK, a bargain if dealer warranties it, get a Works map if you can.

Def. worth it.

It comes with a works map......can now pull away sweetly from 60KMH in 6th! And using about half a litre less per 100KMS in fuel.....and it goes like s**t off a shovel.....

the dealer might install the pulley and stuff, but he won't cover the engine if something goes wrong and is caused by the pulley.

seriously doubt it. I mean all the JCW is, is a MCS with a shortened pulley. The other stuff is not really important. The JCW software makes the car run as it should with a pulley. BTW richard, i'm fitting my 17% pulley very soon, and the list of mods that i have done already are MTH tuner, Alta CAI, and a One-balled exhaust. Hopefully i'll take a works to the cleaners with those mods.

CF looks great, but i dunno if it will work on my SB/SB.

I wish i had the moolah to get that GRS intercooler, but i'll have to settle with an air diverter and water sprayer

hopefully will have the pulley ready by the time i see you on Feb 5th....you'd better come!
