Should I buy an air filter?

I am really considering buying an air filter, hoping for a deeper and louder sound in my car. I've heard that these filters doesn't make any difference whether it's original or a tuning-part. Do you have any experiences with these filters? In that case, would you recommend any?

Thanks in advance

If im right and thinking you mean a panel filter? Then there are small
gains to be seen, better then standard tho! I would recomend a CAI
however are way more money.

Lots of choices for the Cooper S ...

FAQ: What air intakes are available for the 'S'?

Intakes will accentuate the whine of the supercharger.

Fitment of the Alta intake involves removal of the partition between the engine bay and the cowl area making it the loudest.

I'll second both points there. PFs are pretty much useless. I've got the Alta CAI, love it to bits.
