| DU07 OHO | Best Way to Fit a Pipercross Viper? Hi Guys, Just got a PiperX Viper (cheers Rayman) and when I first fitted it - shoved it in place of my old normal PiperX cone filter and connected the other end it made a fantastic roaring noise at about 3-4k RPM - took it off today and fitted it properly - tightened everything etc and there doesn't seem to be as much power or the same great noise. What does everyone think is the best way to fit a Viper to get the most power? Any mods I could do to get more air into the Viper - as the current intake seems very twisty and therefore restrictive? Cheers Pat ![]() |

| "Buying and selling" | Hi Pat, did you disconnect your battery before fitting? Also did you connect the cold air feed, it fits were the stock airbox was fitted onto, you dont take the sleeve thing of, the feed fits onto the end of that. 2001 cooper (sold) ![]() 1995 Supra RZ-S TT auto in white. |

| "Buying and selling" | Cold air feed goes where ive added the green line in the following picture. Also did you cut the cold air feed down so it would fit better. Also providing youve disconnected the battery to reset the ecu, next time you go for a drive give it some stick up to the redline a couple of times, you know spirited driving. Apparantly the ecu re-learns your driving style and takes more air in to accomodate giving more power. Not quite up with the tech jargon but something to that effect! Basically the car will become more powerful, bear in mind its not Nos tho. I found a massive difference when i took it off the car, mine is so sluggish now, maybe it takes a while to thoroughly adapt to the car etc. 2001 cooper (sold) ![]() 1995 Supra RZ-S TT auto in white. |

| DU07 OHO | Cheers for the info Chris. Yeh I did have the air feed like in the pic but I don't think enough air was getting in. I've just been out for a little drive after adapting it some more - I've got the air feed feeding onto the large inlet (shown on your pic above) for the Viper but not actually connecting to it - so if it can't get enough air from the feed its got external air too. Seemed better. Haven't tried disconnecting the battery yet. Will try in a mo. I've got mine chipped too - shouldn't overwrite it should it? |

| DU07 OHO | okie doke will do. like i said was feeling better with the new setup. might try it tommorrow with it reconnected but with a shorter feed - hard to position though as its not a direct line from outlet of the stock feed to the inlet of the Viper - requires a bit of an S-bend. Right off out - will disconnect the battery and give it some welly. ![]() |
