Offline | fitting a smaller pulley I have just bought a mini mania 15% reduced pulley along with performance plugs and the removal tool, i have downloaded the instructions for fitment but i would like to know if anyone has a more detailed guide, im planning to do this mod myself, is this viable. Any problems/help/hints/warnings encountered etc would be very helpful, can it be done by someone with little mechanical knowledge and a Haynes manual? With this mod done i will have the following MTH version 7 software to suit One balled exhaust pipercross induction kit 15% reduction pulley any ideas on HP? Cheers Guys Mark |

Offline | when I done mine I used Randy Webb's instructions and they are foolproof, just take your time and follow each step carefully, I done mine outside the front of my house with a socket set and a 2 ton trolley car jack, you will also need a belt tensioner bar I built my own, the only specialised tool you need are the tensioner bar and pulley removal tool, http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ead.php?t=8466 just a point to note these install instructions call for removing the belt tensioner there is no need if you get the bar and use a small screwdriver to keep the tensioner back hope this helps pm me if you need any further info. |

Offline | Just another quick question as im plannin to do this tommorrow, i was looking through the fitting instructions and theres a mention of head oven or acetlyene torch, what do i need these for, also i a pretty confident in doing the install up until the removal of the belt tensioner tool, do i need the correct tool and if so is it a universal item or specific to the car? How long has it taken anyone who has done the install?, thanks again |

Offline | There are two types of pulleys, an interference fit pulley which must be heated inorder for it to be fitted on the supercharger shaft, and a taper fit pulley which is bolted onto the shaft. A heat oven or torch is only needed if you bought an interference fit pulley. |

Offline | : I want to have a Mini Mania 15% pulley installed on my 05 but can not find a shop in the Houston, Tx. area to do the job other than BMW. They tell me that it is a six hour ($100 per hour) job. They also said that it would void my warranty if they install any thing other than a John Cooper Wood system. Any one know how long the install takes? So far I only have the MM CAI and looking for an exhaust system, since I ride a Harley, I don't care about how loud it is. Any suggestions? ![]() |

Offline | Randy Webb's How To says 1 to 3 hours for a pulley install, but I've seen him do one in less than an hour. He charges $400 (parts and labor) at a Pulley Party. The Works Kit takes over 10 hours to install but involves replacing the supercharger, head and exhaust. |

Offline | I found the most difficult part was actually lifting the engine up out of the bay and then fitting the smaller pulley, one thing that is not in any of the instructions is the removal of the leads going into the back of the coil pack, i would advsie removing this (very simple just push the small erd clip from right to left) as the leads catch on the expansion tank when your raising the engine, you also have to make sure the engine is coming up at the right angle, this is harder than it sounds as the upper engine mount caught on me and i panicked, i lowered the engine and tried again with two small trolley jacks and being very careful, this worked a treat, just take your time. i didnt even have to take the belt tensioner off as i bought the pulley from mini mania and its a half moon sort of shape so it covers the exposed part of the pulley, from there in its follow the instructions that come with your pulley e.g. tightness and spacing on the shaft. i found the haynes manual helpful, just make sure you have all the tools before you start and i have found various threads here advising replacing the spark plugs |
