Offline | What's the Difference Between 163BHP and 170BHP Copper S Hi I've a 04 Copper S which I love to death, however I purchased it about 2 months before the 05 Model was shipped and hence I missing out on the extra 7BHP that the 05 Model Produces. What has BMW mini done to the Power plant to Produce the extra 7BHP. I assume it's a minor Engine remap i.e. Something that BMW could release as a Firmware Upgrade that could be done next service maybe? Has anyone asked this before? What sort of answers did you get? I can't help feeling I'm missing out on something, ![]() I've be playing with the idea of a superchips remap but If I got down this road It with affect warranty and knowing my luck I will need the day after the upgrade.... Offline | It alot more than just a remap to an 05 build car. 7hp is nothing in the real world but the new getrag gearbox with better final drive ratio and close gear ratios makes the car finally really come alive. I would so go get a test drive in a new 05 build MCS and see what you think, but then if you end up loving it then your probably going to have to change. |

| Trained Monkey | The '05 update power increase is mostly from the ECU, but changes were made to the supercharger, exhaust system, and elsewhere too. The main difference between driving the two though, I would say, is the improved gear ratios of the '05 model onwards compared to the earlier cars. |

Offline | So the Answer is Yes BMW Can Remap the ECU ( Cost of a short arm and a leg ) But will I notice the HP increase probably not. Yes I knew the Gearbox was changed (Shorter Gear Ratios 1st and 2nd ) but not much of an option to upgrade short of a 06 MCS trade in (At this time not much chance of that) |
