I'm thinking about purchasing a 2005 MCS. Can someone who has had a pulley kit installed tell me how much it cost? I'm in Atlanta, GA. I also have read that the sunshade for the sunroof doesn't really block out the sun. Here in Atlanta, GA that would be a rewuirement. Do the shades for the 2005 model year block out the sun completely? If, not is there an aftermarket solution? During the summer months if I couldn't block the sun, the interior would get far too hot.

You shouldn't have to pay more than $400 (parts and labor) for a pulley install.

You are in luck being so close to R-Speed in Marietta. They were recommended to me and I have set an appointment with them for mid-February. I'll be traveling up from Florida to have the install completed as well as a new rear sway bar.

As far as the shade on the sunroof it does block considerable sunlight, but at the same time it can be bothersome in some situations to have the sun shine through. All in all though with the treated glass and dark color glass it's really not that problematic. I also have a white roof to reflect some heat. If I had to do it all over I might actually rethink the sunroof mostly because I don't care for the sound and noise that is created when it's fully open. I do however keep the back part cracked open almost all the time while driving (unless I have the AC or heat on).

One other option you might consider, and one that worked well for me is to cover your sunroof in "buswrap", a perforated vinyl material that they often use to cover buses, etc. with large advertising murals, yet still allow the driver and passengers to see out. I have a CR/W MCS, so I purchased some white (unprinted) bus wrap from a local sign shop, to match my white roof, and put it on my sunroof panels. Very clean look, makes your sunroof nearly disappear, greatly reduces the amount of sunlight beating down on you, still allowing you to look out. If your roof is black, or some other color, simply have it colored black, or some other matching or complimentary color, before installation.

Also, I had some left over, with which I made wheel arch side marker covers. To do this, take some paper and trace the outline of each side marker lens. next cut them out and use them as patterns. Transer the shape to the bus wrap to get the correct cover size and shape for each marker light. Finally, lightly spray paint them black (for stock arches). When dry, peel them off and install them over your arch side marker lights. Makes them nearly disappear.

This also works well over your third brake light to make it disappear as well. Really cleans up the look of the car.
