Thumbs up MTH Tuner remap

Simon @ Essential Mini just did this for me on my Cooper, and I can immediately (even just after a few miles) tell a difference, even on standard fuel. I can't wait to see what it'll be like after a few hundred miles when it's "settled in" and with Optimax.

The car is much smoother to drive - the shuddering in 1st/2nd gear etc. is gone, 1st gear acceleration is a lot smoother and easier to manage, gear changes are smoother, the car pulls MUCH better in all gears inc. 5th, acceleration is significantly improved and it just keeps on going and seems to be "freer" to drive, and to be honest it's transformed the car.

Top marks to Simon for a great service and a great product.

If anyone is sceptical about this mod (as I was, and to be honest even after I had it done I didn't expect a massive improvement) then don't be - just get it done, it's well worth it. And at £210 it's a steal for the performance/drivability/responsiveness increase you get.

Glad you like it

I told you it was worthwhile to be honest, i didn't see a big difference with running on optimax, so i am back on the regular 95 RON stuff and it is still great.

All the best

The data is downloaded from your car's ECU...then it's uploaded to MTH in Germany with a list of SPECIFIC modifications (manufacturer/model etc.) your vehicle has. The file is then tweaked and adapted to make the best of these modifications, and sent back to you.

The best solution would be to give MTH a/f numbers from a dyno pull, and allow them to adjust the mapping accordingly. They can do this if one can supply the info.

em sorry but they wont,
I have contacted Volker and asked him if I provide data from a wideband o2 sensor including rpm could he tweak my tuner file a bit more and he told me no, the only way to further tweak the tuner file is to bring the car to Germany and to their workshop.

it's bad enough i'm not doing the 5 hour drive to GTT to sort the car out , so off to GERMANY uh-uh ...

so MTH looks like they will use the same programme on a JCW car , and on any other car that has a ported head / 15% pulley /cat-back ???

yeeeeeehaaaaaaa

Volker told me it's not really possible.

You need an AFC to do it perfectly.
