Offline | Which Remap? Evening Everyone! I currently have a 51 plate Cooper with the John Cooper Sound Kit added, and although I love the sound it makes I am disappointed with the performance gain of 3bhp. Due to this I am now considering a remap and have looked at various options from GT Tuning and Lohen and would appreciate some advice on which one to choose and if there are any other options I should consider? Thanks in advance! |

Offline | I got my One mapped by XS Performance XS Performance. Totally transformed the car. Have had no problems and even get more than 250 miles out of a tank full. MINI One Last edited by Shabz : Nov 1st, 2006 at 07:41 PM. |

Offline | Emaps do Generic remaps which arent specific to your car or the modifcations youve had done. These are far from ideal if you have added an exhaust or done induction modifications. If youve changed your cams then this is a total and utter waste of money. A real remap is a LIVE one which is done whilst your cars fuelling and ignition are optimised on a set of rollers or possibly on the road (this is much harder). If your going to spend money on a remap make sure its a live remap where your car is hooked up to instruments which can read Lamda and emmissions whilst the fuelling and ignition are changed. |

Offline | With the MTH Tuner remap, up to 135bhp (depending on fuel used etc.) It's well respected on here, no reason to get anything else! http://www.mini2.com/forum/engine-drivetrain-tuning/109557-mth-tuner-remap.html ![]() |

Offline | It's not all about BHP. If you've read my thread, you'll see that the overall driveability of the car improves. It's smoother, throttle is more responsive, it's "easier" to drive as you don't need to change down as much, and it pulls much better in all gears. And you can feel the extra bhp in the acceleration. Also, it's meant to improve fuel consumption (if you drive like you did before, which you won't - you'll want to get your foot down more!!), not least because you can be in a higher gear a lot more of the time. I noticed the difference in my Cooper straight away ![]() ![]() |

Offline | As far as insurance goes, make sure your insurer will actually accept modifications - some won't! I'm with Adrian Flux, a specific sports/prestige/mod-friendly insurer, and my insurance has gone up less than 10%. ![]() |

Offline | Nice to hear a response like this. If the MTH is doing this then it is very very good. Is it a Live remap? I do have to say that getting it done on a rolling road will yeild an even better drive if the tuner knows what he is doing. |

Offline | The MTH Tuner remap is specific to your car - your current ECU data is downloaded, then emailed to MTH in Germany. A unique remap is then emailed back and you upload that to your car. Also, if you have any modifications (air filters, exhausts, manifolds, cams, etc.) then you specify the EXACT ones (make/model/type etc.) and they modify/adapt YOUR remap to them. ![]() |

Offline | How do they account for what the modifications are actually doing without putting the car on a dyno and having a look at the emiissions and air fuel ratio? This is still a "generic" type pre programmed remap and is not car specific. Everycar has different wear in its engine and other components may not be working as well as they did when the car elft the factory - how do these people account for this? PLease dont get offended by my sceptical view on this - Ive had alot of my cars tuned and Ive gone quite far with some of them using standalone management and I have accidently learnt quite alot along the way. The only way to get a remap which is specific to your car is a LIVE REMAP. If you look at all of the big serious tuning companies around they will always live remap a car after they have modified it. They will never ever use a generic remap. Superchips are infact alot better than most of these places. You go to Superchips, they stick you car on a dyno. The information is then used to create a map via an internet link. The car is then re run on the dyno to make sure its not over fuelling or pinking. It aint expensive for no reason! Its done properly. |
