didn't i read somewhere that the scuttle panel can be unfastened and properly removed without the need for drilling?

(stands there with the SDS drill revving and on standby with goggles on)

WEYHEY - I fitted the kit lastnight - Cracking quality!!!!!

drilled two 57mm IIRC holes next to each other - enough plastic between the holes to give a bit of strength in the scuttle panel.

took about 30 mins ensuring all fittings were secure (not rushing the job basically)

wasnt sure what to expect - VERY NICE INDEED! the supercharger seems to get down to it with a lot more urgency - and that whine is addictive! Didnt hear any other noises - wooshing etc that other people claim to have heard with a CAI ? when I turn the ignition off the CAI puffs out a sigh of air... tshhh

seems to have lost some of its stumble too!

will it free up more as the ECU learns?

damn people gettin in my way now!!! wwwwwhhhiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

BTW - Do these things need cleaning? and what with and when? lol

should be able to see the two drilled holes in the pics below

Hi Chew, glad your pleased with it! Both K&N and JR do a cleaning & re oiling kit,if you need it, but because much of the air is now coming in from the base of the windscreen area now, we are finding they stay very clean anyway (unlike stock )

Just a thought but does the hole from the scuttle area not allow water into the air filter area? The scuttle panel is where the water drains through right?

Hi Dave, no even put through the car wash no water will ever get in. (even the std airbox has a hole going through). Our holes are much higher up. The scuttle can drain easily anyway. TBH with GTT airbox + holes it is about as optimum air intake position you will get , glad BMW put it where they did, they just forgot the big holes !
Best Regards Roland GTT
