| GP 0380 | Im concerned by the fact you have to drill holes into the airbox lid. And the whole filter arrangement is held together by three springs? In my mind it doesnt seem the most secure of arrangements. Anyone know how the Mini Madness replacement element is held on? ![]() |

| GP 0380 | This GTT design is a bit mad for my liking, also butchering the airbox lid doesnt exactly allow you the option of swapping the filters back for servicing or warranty work. However, what holds the stock filter on, just that clip on the retaining end of it? Is it the same for the Mini madness option? Not held on my a jubilee clip of anything? Anyone know how much a new JCW airbox lid costs? ![]() |

Offline | Yeah - read that - not 100% sure of its set up though - so didn't want to comment on the Madness unit and be wrong. In fact the velocity stack feature of the Madness is a plus over the GTT element as this doesn't have it. The GTT induction kit does has a Velocity stack (Ram Pipe) attached to the heatshield which the element goes over. MY05 MINI COOPER S - DS/B - GTT OPTIMISED- THANKS FOR THE RIDE - ENTER THE R56 JCW |

Offline | You can't buy a lid by itself you have to buy the whole airbox. - That isn't just JCW - goes for stock airbox as well!! ![]() MY05 MINI COOPER S - DS/B - GTT OPTIMISED- THANKS FOR THE RIDE - ENTER THE R56 JCW |

Offline | Why do you need to drill holes in the JCW airbox, hasn't it got enough already? Why is it necessary to drill more for the GTT filter? There are already 3 very big holes, including one right at the top of the filter, which when fitting the GTT filter is positioned just right for flow through the top of the filter. So I don't understand why you need to drill more. Having just bought a JCW airbox, and being tempted by the GTT airfilter, I certainly have no intentions of drilling into what is essentially a very expensive plastic box and ruining it. ![]() |

| GP 0380 | The GTT filter comes in two bits, a cylindrical cone, and a round end plate. You have to drill three holes in airbox around intake pipe for plastic gromets that hold one end of a spring, and the other end of the spring goes onto the end plate of filter. So three springs hold the filter on and together. ![]() |

Offline | Tiny holes were required to mount the 3 long springs that hold the GTT element in place on the top cover of the airbox However - i'm sure Roland had changed this to little clips instead - will have a dig around for the thread! Offline | Ah, OK I understand now. So possibly an inventive sort of person (aka bodger) might be able to fabricate an internal collar arrangement to anchor the springs, instead of drilling the airbox. ![]() |

Offline | I'm going for the MINI Madness straight replacement filter. Having to drill holes for the GTT sounds like too much of a mod to the VERY expensive JCW airbox. Another consideration is that my car still has 3.5 years of warranty remaining - I don't want to do anything that will void it. ![]() aka KeithP |
