JCW Intake Airbox Upgrade

The issue is the origami paper filter that Mini puts in the JCW airbox:

- It is wildly expensive for a disposable filter - around US$100. While Mini will replace it as part of the included maintenance package, they will do so only after 30K miles, by which point it will be completely clogged.

- The paper element is very restrictive even when new, and makes the JCW intake much less of a performer than any of the aftermarket CAIs.

Here's a $40 solution that should be good for 3-5HP vs. the stock filter - a K&N gauze filter to replace it...

Great work my friend - this is exactly what I have been looking for - I even suggested to GTTuning that they might want to develope dome kind of kit for JCW owners that want to keep further mods 'low-key'.....

I have a Works car that has additional GTTuning work - New ECU programme via MTH, overdrive pulley wheel (equalling 18% overall reduction and a sports manifold (header). This sounds ideal for getting a little more breathing outa the JCW box....

So, can you sell me that little metal strip so that I can order a filter for myself...?

Good work fella. do post 'butt-dyno' performance feedback....

Hi Tony, twas on your suggestion that we went ahead and designed an upgrade kit for JCW airbox. We even put up a thread with pics ,I think its called 'GTT/JCW airfilter upgrade kit',maybe you missed it.
Ours also pulls air in from the end which is blanked off normally with a metal plate. So even better flow.We even tested it against JCW 'stock' filter. Check it out.
Its in stock & available from a GTT dealer near you now
-I know its not on the website yet, blame our web designers,
Best Regards Roland GTT

£55 plus VAT for the kit?

Not cheap, but seems like a worthwhile(ish) mod?

I think if your running (and have paid for) a 230-240 odd bhp conversion then every little helps....

Just received my GTT/JCW hybrid air filter upgrade. Anyone on here fitted it yet on their car, couple of queries/concerns I'd like to discuss.
