Cooper S MTH 190bhp remap only - fuel economy?

Hi folks,

Hopefully the title is self explanatory.

Anyone have just the MTH remap with the quoted 190bhp - how does it affect fuel economy?

Currently I'm getting 250-270 per tank of optimax.

cheers
aslan

Your running a stock car at mo and getting that? I don't on my stock car More like max of 250 per tank of 97 at the mo

Although my car dyno'd the other day at 203 bhp on a 7200rpm limit! So mine may have an MTH map no-one knew about

I've got the MTH file on my S Works, and I get 330-350 out of a tank, and I don't drive like a granny. Only use Optimax though. The MTH file didn't change the fuel economy significantly, if anything it made it slightly better

Statistics are like mini-skirts, they give you a lot of ideas but hide whats important

Try ringing the mobile number on the website. I had problems trying to get intouch with him via email. I phoned the mobile number and he sorted my MTH tuner map out in no time.
Excellent service, pleasure to deal with. MTH map is excellent aswell. Only covered 200 miles since updating the map, but so far but its a great improvement from standard.

MTH and petrol consumption

I had my MCS MTHd by Simon at Essential Mini and I have not regretted it at all. The latest map VT7 is great and got rid of all the surges and flat spots I had with the original BMW map, and also a hesitation at around 4k RPM which was beginning to appear with the MTH VT6 map.
As for petrol consumption.....well if I really cared I would not have bought an MCS, but rumour has it that it improves with MTH. In my experience, car tuning increases engine efficiency, which improves petrol consumption, UNTIL you start to use the extra power at which point petrol consumption nose dives. So really, how do you drive your MCS?
How can the owner of an MCS REALLY care about petrol consumption? I suspect some people would run their MCS on recycled chip fat if they could, but why? If someone agonises about whether he/she can afford to use Optimax perhaps an MCS is not the car they should be driving.
