Offline | What's funny is all the model years "pop", they just increased/amplified this with the '05 onwards. The first time I ever drove an S at the press launch in Portugal we got out to swap over driver/navigator, and myself and my co-driver were childishly impressed with the exhaust burble/pop. ![]() |

Offline | I love the popping on my MCSc - and I know what you mean about the childish grin that it brings to your face. Very nice to have a professional factory installed pop instead of the plague of platic clad Nova boys with their aftermarket coke can exhausts trying to emmulate it. |

| the unexpected passenger™ | lol, some of us didn't know when we bought our MCS's that this was a specific design. I asked my MA to investigate "a rattle" that was simply the popping sound, as I later found out from mini2. I think if you buy it not knowing what engine overrun is, it's very easy to not know this is a "feature" ... mostyn, my friend has a MCSa and I have never heard it pop. *shrugs* but then again, she's also a very gentle driver. |

Offline | It doesn't bother me too much, but I love the popping sound, and I wish mine did it! Can the dealership do anything to make it pop more? Maybe I should try cheaper gas..... Sorry to change the subject...but what are you MCSc getting in MPG? Mine is around 23...is that good? It sucks compared to my other MC. Thanks again!!! |

Offline | my MCSa doesn't pop either! well, it did once - I floored it and then let go while in neutral - that was it, one solitary pop. I know there are other people with the auto transmission that have cars that pop. why some don't is a mystery to me - software maybe? lower octane isn't great for your engine and will lower your MPG BTW. I have a hardtop and get about the same mileage as you - my former MINI, a manual MC got MUCH better MPG. |
