Pure Silver K&N air filter and JCW sound kit

hi everyone, I have a Mini one, did the ECU remap, and change the JCW exhaust system, now I want to change the air filter, do you guys think the K&N intake is worth to buy or the JCW sound kit is worth to buy? and by the way dose anyone know that different between K&N air filter pannel and K&N intake kit, any which one is better. Because I have serched lot of website they said that have no difference, the intake kit just make the noise bigger, no hp will be increased.
if you guys can give some advice that will be very appreciate.

Welcome to MINI2

I don't know a great deal about the K&N options but thought it would be worth mentioning that if you go down the Sound Kit route, they'll remap your ECU for the Sound Kit so you'll lose the mapping you already have

Can you get the Sound Kit for MINI One? I thought it was Cooper only.

Its Cooper only im afraid. No dealer will order it for a one.

Sorry mate, good news is you can replicate same sorta thing with aftermarket parts, so long as warranty aint an issue for you.

Good luck with mods

I have already have the works exhaust system, the dealer says that is the same as in the sound kit. they also can fit the sound kit for me, just like they said, I feel strange as well, some people tell me one can not fit the sound kit, but some people said yes, so I just changed the exhaust system.

Sorry mate, good news is you can replicate same sorta thing with aftermarket parts, so long as warranty aint an issue for you.

hi buds:
you think that will effect the warranty??? so what I can do? Change it back?

There's no doubt about it that the Sound Kit would fit and work on a One (though I'm not sure what happens about the ECU remap). It's just the fact that I thought it wasn't an option for the One, and dealers/JCW wouldn't do it.

Kanby,

If dealer fitted the exhaust i'd imagine you'll be ok. Wouldnt do any harm just to clarify with them though. Its a JCW part so i cant imagine they wouldnt. When i was saying about warranty i was more thinking likes of K&N, Miltek, Janspeed, MTH/Superchips Remaps.Basically anything aftermarket and not BMW/Mini/JCW. All the aforementioned while just example companies, can affect warranty depending on your dealer. Basically, if in doubt, just ask your service centre at dealer before you do the mod. Cant go wrong then, and dealer cant say they didnt know.

Im with Sebby though, didnt know of any dealers getting involved with Sound kits for Mini Ones. But if you've got one that will for you, thats great

I've got a related question, if you don't mind...

I have the Pipercross/JCW intake mod...I couldn't get the K&N option easily here. The question is that I have seen nice isolators/heat shields for the MCS, but none for the Mini Cooper. Your setup looks nearly identical to mine, but heat shielding the inlet air from the remaining air (hot) in the engine compartment would be a good thing. Have you seen anything like that for the Cooper?

Thanks!

Stephen.
