performance tuning

A customer has reported back his dyno figures which are interesting as they highlight the benefits of cylinder head work,he obtained an increase of 18 bhp by using our stage 3 head (ported/polished /skimmed and big valve) this was without additional mapping ,I dont have the torque increase yet but it would be in line with the 18bhp increase as a minimum, the peak bhp was 182 bhp ,the reason he didnt make more was the poor stock intake design (something I will be looking at) oh it was on a COOPER. So on the S you would expect far more gains than that. Needless to say he is fitting an uprated gearbox.hope this is a help to performance addicts and statisticians who love their numbers!

182 bhp on a Cooper? Is that before or after the new gear box? What else did he have in the engine to get that high, was it normally asperated?

I've got a stage 2 head with a fast road cam and carbon viper cai going on in a few weeks. Iwas hoping for the mid to high 140's bhp with a remap! But 182, wow!

the cooper with 182 is a race car,so race cam, pistons, manifold, throttle body, larger injectors, light flywheel, clutch, trans cooler, etc we are supplying uprated gearbox internals, lsd, with different ratios,as he has destroyed too many stock boxes.it would have been easier/cheaper to achieve the power fitting a turbo but its not allowed. Now a 200bhp cooper turbo, would be a quick car!,but no change from £6000.be easier with an S cheaper too
