Offline | JCW stuff for automatic MCS? I have ordered a fully loaded MCS with auto trans. Would your commend any Works gear for the car? I understand that the engine kit is only avail on 6 speed. Any goodies that would enhance my MCS automatic trans? Thanks. |

Offline | MCSa with some JCW gear - Full JCW upgrade someday It took a while to figure out all the JCW gear that could be loaded on to our MCSa. The JCW brake and air intake kits were available in February when our order was placed. Fortunately, the JCW exhaust system kit became available just before we took delivery in early April (because I was thinking ordering it as piece parts [$$$!]). The dealer's lead MINI tech went to an automatic tranny rebuild training class and asked all my questions on the JCW kit & Aisin tranny. Come to find out the tranny has a 190 Hp limit for its warrantee. Yes, they do have several JCW MCSa cars running around at the factory. The warrantee was the final word for us with a $30k+ new car. After the warrantee expires, maybe a full JCW engine upgrade. Dealer figures our MCSa is up to 180-182 Hp (+4 with intake & +10 with exhaust). Love the sound of the exhaust and, when the 4500 RPM intake damper opens, WOW. FYI - A 15% pulley reportedly adds noticeably to the low end on a MCSa. Our "Tardis" has landed in this dimension. Out Motoring in our new MINI. 06 CR/S MCSa |

Offline | Interesting Paul thanks for the info. I'm picking up a new loaded '06 Mini Cooper S (convert auto) this week and was thinking about what to do (performance mods) and when to do it. Thought about the JCW intake first (warranty on my mind) then the cat back either Borla street or Milltek. Want something with a little more substance than stock sound that is drivable with family. The question I have is should I wait and drive the car through break in period first (get used to the sounds) B4 installing the JCW intake or just have the dealer install it at delivery? |

Offline | Interesting fact about the tranny. So I wonder then if the factory JCWa kit is also limited to 190Hp as opposed to the 210 of the stick version. ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | I'm still clueless...MCS Auto JCW what to do? My MCS convert auto has arrived in US with delivery date 8 June. I am still not clear on what everyone would recommend related to the JCW gear available for the automatic S. Can I add anything that will make the car go "faster" or is it really a matter of changing the sound through the exhaust kit? I assume I have to tell the dealer if I want anything else done before I take delivery...the car is completely kitted out and I don't want to miss anything that would make the car even better...! Thanks. |

Offline | IIRC the JCW exhaust & CAI will give you up to 15 HP. They don't have to be installed at delivery, they can be added at any time. The first two things on my list are the CAI & exhaust. After that, maybe a 14% pulley. But the car is already plenty fast straight out of the box too... ![]() ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | 14% MiniVee? Which one is that? Can you get just the JCW pulley (thought it was 13%??) installed individually, like just the airbox or just the exhaust? Car is due to arrive in Calgary today at the trainyards, I might spin by after work and see if it's around. |

Offline | IIRC, 14% is the JCW supercharger pulley. I haven't asked the dealership about it, but they show up on eBay from time to time. Whoo hoo! Perhaps I'll spin by there tomorrow, maybe they've got different security guards there now. ![]() ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | It would be fantastic if the dealership would install just the JCW pulley on the car. I've read that since the engine is something like 10mm over, it makes pulley installation more difficult on the MCSa because way more stuff has to come off the car in order to get at the pulley (see that thread on the GTT230 review on MCSa). In all my time on MINI2, I haven't seen or heard of someone in the Calgary area installing them on MCSa either. Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but the prospect of a JCW pulley put on the car by the dealership interests me. Like JCW ala carte. I'd go for the JCW pulley (if only to have it properly installed and covered under warranty), and the JCW brakes, but I'd do the CAI and cat-back exhaust a different route, as they're not as warranty sensitive (JCW pulley, some form of CAI and one-ball should all be at or just under 190, so warranty should be okay....?). |

| 05 MCS BEP | Hmmm, I don't know. Graham at Yaletown MINI in Vancouver told me the JCW engine kit for MCSa was available. But then, I don't have an automatic transmission in my MCS. But like airguitarchampion says, I don't of anybody with an MCSa who has had the JCW kit installed. 05MCS BEP - Alta 22mm rear anti-swaybar, Madness CAI, Alta 15%, NGK BRK7EIX |
