Any difference in perfomance panel filters

Is there any difference in the performance panel filters ? or is it just a choice based on cost and brand ie, K&N, PiperX, Green, etc.

Any feedback would be good, I'm thinking about one for my Cooper. I know that its not going to turn it into a rocket but though it might smooth out the power delivery at low revs.

I tried 2 types .. I had one from Green and one from K&N.
It felt like the K&N gave me a bit more response.
I don't know if the Green filter was specific for the MINI, the K&N was.

But I guess there's not that many difference in those ones

Thanks for the feedback.

I guess that the differences will be quite small as they only have a limited effect anyway, its good to get an idea of what people who have had them think.

Thanks

Someone on here did a test a few years ago and found pretty much no significant difference between the filters.

Something else I read a while back (that I'm pretty sure was linked to from here) tested filters for a Miata or something and found the factory filter gave the best flow.

You might try a search...

Hi,

I ordered my Panel filter from Mini Sport in Padiham. I was told that for a cooper a K&N would be the best for my car.

Cost an arm and leg... but hey hoooo

I fitted one last night. I didnt really notice any difference, but havnt driven it far yet.

Looking at the filter that was in there originally anything would have been better.

be good to see what you think after you've done a few miles. What brand did you get?

I remember seeing this over on NAM. Test results indicated that the best flow was from a NEW OEM filter. The poster also tested filtration as well.

Aftermarket filters are cleanable, so may save money over time. I have a K&N panel filter and noticed no change in sound or performance having driven the car back to back with it and my original factory filter element at 33K miles.

Me again!
There is deffinately a difference, and fuel consumption is better (only slightly), but the filter that came off looked quite bad.

Its a new k&n one i got from ebay as it was the cheapest
