Cleaning intake ...

I have a PROMINI intake on my 03 MC that looks like it might need some serious cleaning ... the filter element that is.

How do I go about this and what to use to do the job?

Any help appreciated ...

hehe ... thanks!

I should have been more clear that the "filter element" was the piece needing cleaning

That makes a small difference.
If they're still using the gauze filters just buy a K&N cleaning kit. It'll come with the oil to re-oil the filter.

TBH, in the past I have just soaked them in Dawn and flushed them from the inside to blow the dirt out of the material. Then just use the K&N oil to recharge the filter.
