Offline | CVT ECU Re-mapping Hi guys, Just about to head back home and bring my CVT Cooper to the UK for good, and had heard of some re-maps you can get for the ECU. This is all just what I have been told, or read somewhere (and now forgotten where), but heard you can change the pre-set ratio's that are used in steptronic mode. Also that some of the systems you get take an image of your ECU as it is now, so you can change back over to it should you need to, Does anyone have any advice/information/recommendations on this? Offline | The MTH upgrade will give you a claimed 98bhp for a MiniD. This over-writes your map, but as it's based on your existing map a copy is kept and so your original map can be reloaded to put the car back to standard. I don't think the Superchips Bluefin is available for MiniD? There are others, but these are 2 of the popular ones for Mini. MTH gets my vote. ![]() |

Offline | Mine is not a diesel though, its a petrol Cooper with a CVT box. But I know what you're getting at, I read about something a while back that would rewrite the map, but cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. With whichever system you get, would it be best to take it to a garage to get it done? |

Offline | Sorry about the confusion! MTH maps are supposed to be custom written for the car. You can contact MTH yourself and buy the interface to do it yourself, or you can go to the MTH UK dealer who will do it all for you for £245+VAT with 12 months free updates and support, claimed output for a Cooper is 135bhp. http://www.mth-minipower.de/index.ph...endler&lang=en Alternatively, the Bluefin is available for Cooper for £299. This claims an increase of 10bhp over stock. The advantage of Bluefin is that it has a handy "widget" that contains the tuner file. You plug it into your car and it swaps your standard file for the tuner file. It keeps your standard file, so you can swap back anytime you like. Would seem to be easy for anyone to use. http://www.lohen.co.uk/shop/products.asp?cat=72 MTH is a little more fiddly, if you do it yourself you have to have a laptop, and the MTH software only lasts until the end of the year of issue at which point you have to ask for a new version. Some people have had issues with the upload freezing which is all hassle. If you're not technically minded, take it to the MTH dealer, but you obviously have less control if you need to swap back your old file. ![]() |
