Header difference

I have been checking the headers out they range from 150.00 to 700.00. They all seem to be made out of the same stainless steel. Makes you wonder why their is so much price difference.

Build quality, research costs, equipment costs, testing costs. All adds up and goes some way to explaining why (in general) the more expensive items work better, last longer and cause less issues.

That is all true but I do not see a header for a four cylinder costing 700.00 dollars when the V-8s are not near that much. It does not cost very much to weld four pieces of pipe to a flange and do a dyno run. I would think that most of the work is figured out on a computer and for the most part is a one shot deal. I could be wrong it would not be the first time.

I can see what you're saying but it really isn't all that simple. If it was, all manifolds would be pretty similar but you will have seen a lot are very different from each other.

You need to also take into account the business side of things in recovering the costs involved with design and manufacture of these parts. I would suggest that the American V8's may have a larger more established market where they will sell more units so need to make less money per unit to recover all costs and start making profit. Maybe some companies want to wring more profit out of a part than others too.

I'd say go with the OBX - they're a copy of the Supersprint design, work fantastically, and are *really* cheap.
