Offline | I was thinking about this myself as the std one must have the airflow characteristics of an accordion. It might be worth speaking to Roland at GTT who did something similar by producing the replacement snoot boots? (just an idea) ![]() |

Offline | Or, if you're not bothered about legality, you can add a little filter on the end of the PCV hose (as there is the possibility of *slight* vaccum there under some conditions), and vent the PCV to the atmosphere. |

Offline | Hi Guys, at idle & overrun there is alot of suck through the PCV valve ,use our OCC on this circuit. You can use a breather filter on the other connection of the cam cover though. Dont forget to plug the hole in the intake hose if you do though! The stock intake hose does have 2 advantages over aftermarket ones that I can see;- 1) It has a step on the bore at each end. This step coincides with the parts it clamps to ,meaning there is no step inside (good) as they cancel each other out. With non stock hoses it steps down as the air enters the TB (not so good) 2) The ribbed reinforcement on this hose is there to prevent it imploding (collapsing) under WOT at full rpm. A restictive intake system will result in a negative pressure in this hose under these conditions. It doesnt take much negative pressure to get a hose to suck in. Youll never know its happening unless it completly collapes, the engine then just stalls (TT's can do this if chipped ).Of course partial collapsing = losing power as the restriction then becomes even greater. See our airfilter test thread for more info. Re-inforced ribbed hoses are still best for induction hoses IMOBest Regards Roland GTT ![]() |

| ICMINI | Intake Hose Hi guys thanks for your response. Just a quick question Roland, by fitting a breather filter to the connection of the cam cover and not having the normal hose running from it to the intake will this effect the cars engine in a negative way. I have also attached a little picture of how i think it would hook up, please could you tell me if it is correct. Also i am looking at hooking up an oil catch can and i have also attached a pic of how i think it hooks up could you advise me on if it is correct. Thanks Heaps Perry |

Offline | In response to some questions people keep asking about the intake hoses on our intakes.THEY DO NOT COLLAPSE AND NEVER HAVE! Our silicone hose is very thick and is stiffer than the factory rubber hose by a small amount. Secondly there are gains to be had by the hose. Below are graphs of runs on a car from stock-ALTA panel-ALTA intake no hose-ALTA intake with hose. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is real data not made up by anyone. Regarding the breathers, since the ECU is a speed density type of ECU venting that to atmosphere is never going to hurt performance. The only thing bad it does is possibly make mess of the oil coming out of it, put these bad emissions in to the air. |

Offline | ..Didn't know Alta were a Mini 2 sponsor?? Guys The PCV valve to SC inlet hose should have the OCC in its path. The other connection at the other end of the rocker cover can have a breather filter on it (going to the cam cover side ). Block off the hole in the induction pipe though. Do not connect both into one oil catch can;you will collect mostly water! (condensation) . Check out our website for info on our GT Tuning OCC and why it works.Venting the PCV valve hose to atmosphere although not effecting mixture does effect throttle position at idle . Specifically it need to close more to maintain correct idle, this can make it a bit jerky,as is already almost fully closed Best Regards Roland GTT ![]() |
