| Eat my dust. | Alta cold air intake + JCW strut brace? Does anyone know if the Alta CAI for the MCS can be fit with the JCW strut brace? Someone told me today that the CAI won't fit if you have the strut brace... Anyone know if it's true? Now driving a 2006 Brabus Roadster Coupe PW/B Cooper S Works has gone to its new home! |

Offline | Here you go one I did earlier http://www.mini2.com/forum/wheels-ty...-alta-cai.html , it will fit, you might need to trim the alta air box, but its about a 2-3 minute job, did tallandy's a few weeks ago ![]() ![]() |

| Eat my dust. | Cheers Pobsey - don't suppose you still have the pics? They seem to have disappeared! Also, don't suppose you're going into production with the black "S" side grills are you? I quite fancy a pair, I must say. ![]() Now driving a 2006 Brabus Roadster Coupe PW/B Cooper S Works has gone to its new home! |

Offline | Our 06 JCW has the same S.T.B. but we have the GTT C.A.I. We notched the Al intake box for the S.T.B. also and like you put the seal between the Al intake box and S.T.B. along with adding a length of seal between the S.T.B. and hood liner. This is to further limit hot air from the engine bay entering the intake box. |

Offline | Everywhere I've read about matching the Alta CAI with the JCW Brace talks about modding the Alta airbox. This is made even more complicated if you get the Alta airbox top (soon to be available). Without the Alta airbox top, the hood-airbox seal is known to leak hot air from the engine compartment significantly even without a brace, especially around the airbox corner that reaches to the SC hood scoop. Adding a brace just makes the seal more difficult to achieve. Best to plan for at least some custom trimming and fitting. -- VBG '06 MCS CRWS |
