ONE/Cooper Difference

I noticed that both the Mini One & Cooper use the W10 (an engine code) engine.
Though there is a 25bhp difference between then two. Now I thoguht it was down to an airintake & the ECU, but i've been told its to do with the Mass Air Flow Meter (MAF)
If I were to replace a Mini One's MAF with a Cooper's, would this mean the 25bhp difference? Or is it a pile of sh*t?

It's the smelly one...ECU settings are what is different. These take the readings from the MAF meter and fuel accordingly.

What new bits? I didn't buy any new bits...

So if the MAF was changed along with a Cooper ECU, it would give a boost in power?

Very early on in the days of chip tuning it was found you could take the codes from the Cooper, put them on a One, and voila, Cooper power. No other changes required. This is how SuperChips (who I think got there first) did their tuning, simply downloaded both programmes, compared the two, make the numbers match, and uploaded the new map.

Pretty much any chip tuner will do it, and more if you want to take it further.

My induction is called Supra RamAir.

Their a racing company.

My exhaust is PowerFlow and then custom fitted to the car with stainless steel pipes.

How much bhp have you gained from this airintake, exhaust & remap?

Haven't had it on a Dyno yet but predicting around 140BHP which is a 50BHP increase.

The biggest difference is made by the ECU remap.

I'd say the induction plus exhaust adds 10-15 BHP.

If you're planning to keep the car, don't forget that your gearbox might be prone to going kaput if you're putting that sort of power through it.

that's very true but so far ive had no probs with mine. I think if i went much over 150 BHP id start tempting fate.
