Squirrel at 3000rpm

Hi

Just something that I noticed tonight while driving home... when the rev counter hits about 3000rpms there's a noise coming from the engine like a squirrel going beserk... Has anyone else had this? Also if not, does anyone know what this could be?

Cheers,
Louis.

Perhaps the belting for radiator fan or air-condition needs adjustment or replacement.

Just to elaborate a little bit more.. heard it again this morning... it comes on for abt 1 - 2 seconds when the accelerator is floored and the revs hit around 3000rpm. I guess another way to describe the sound is like a steel cable being unwound really fast before it snaps.

Check you serpentine belt for glazing which is a good indicator of belt slippage.

The big main belt... runs the the S/C, alternator, A/C compressor and I think also the water pump.

Water pump is run from the back of the supercharger .

Check your belt (or if you don't know what the belt is, you should prob. go see your dealer ).

Went to see the dealer this morning... they think it's the engine pinging... all on account that I went abit tight ar5e this week and bought 91 Ron Fuel instead of my usual vortex. Will get some octane booster today see if this fixes the current batch of fuel.
