Offline | I had a set of Denso Iridium IK-22's, but when I recently had a problem where I blew a plug through the head I had to get some plugs ASAP, could not get stock of the IK-22 so now I'm running the NGK Iridium, the same as they run in the JCW conversions. |

Offline | I don't want to get sued, so this is pure hearsay. I have heard that Denso Iridiums MAY cause problems with blown plugs, as per the post from Baker. So it my own personal opinion and with no proof that NGK are better than Denso, that I would personally prefer the NGK Iridium plugs. I would personally hate to run the risk of a blown plug, of any manufacture. Other peoples opinions may differ. ![]() |

Offline | There are a couple of opinions on this, mostly coming from NAM. It was found that a certain batch of heads had a slight metalurgy problem, in which if they got too hot they basically allowed the plug to work loose, which then allows it to blow out the relatively weak thread. Originally this problem was being attributed to the Denso Iridium IK-22 plugs, but then it was found that similar things had also happened on other branded plugs (its just the majority of people were using IK-22's after getting a pulley installed by Randy Webb). It was even found, to a lesser degree, that people with stock cars were getting loose plugs due to the issue. Personally I'm attributing it to a head failure, not a plug failure. If you look at the damage I suffered as well, it also destroyed three quarters of a spark plug lead! ![]() On saying that; looking at the plugs externally the NGK looks nicer; having four points to create the spark from instead of just the one on the Denso. Will it help? Who knows; a dyno will not tell you, and you cannot trust the manufacturers to tell you. Down to personal preferance. |

| MINI2 Sex God & etc...... | I have a MC Standard engine compartment wise (No ECU Re-maps yet) all I have it a Milltek exhaust. Would it be ok for me to put Iridium plugs in to my car? And if it is ok can you tell a difference when they are in (Performance etc)? ![]() |

Offline | If you've got no engine mods there is no real point to putting Iridium plugs in, other than you get a longer plug life. You'll not get any difference power wise at all. |

| 8/10 on the Stoogometer | not really an issue of pros and cons. You fit a colder heat range if you're combustion temperatures go up in order to dissipate some of the extra heat your making. In our case, that means a colder heat range is adviseable when you up the boost by adding a smaller SC pulley. Black MCS |

Offline | IK20 instead of IK22 Sorry to reply on this rather old post. Just found it today, doing some searching on "iridium". I.M.H.O., the IK22 is not the right Denso iridium plug. That should be the IK20. Why did you choose the IK22? Looking forward to your reply. Best regards, Jenkins |
