Panel filter = more noise????

Does fitting a panel filter actually give the engine a louder induction noise or not? read on some manufacturers websites that it does but i've heard other people saying that it doesn't???????????????????????????????????????

I've heard that it is true for some filters.

Everyone says that K&N Filters increase the noise. That was certainly the case on the motorcycle we put one in recently. I just ordered a foam filter, and the noise is supposed to stay about the same. I'll let you know about the foam filter when I get it in a few days.

I installed a K&N panel filter to my ONE, but did not really notice any difference in sound.

I have now drilled some holes in the bottom of the airbox, and when you accelerate heavily you get a really nice sound.

If youre going to do this take the box out as there is an aircon pipe running underneath.

Does that damage the way the car runs? Does it let in dirt, or do you lose air pressure?

the bottom is the dirty side so it makes no difference there & its not a pressurised system as such. i noticed a slight increase in noise with k&n panel, but i have an aftermaket exhaust on too
