JCW ECU Software on Standard MCS

Hi Everyone!

I have a completely standard Cooper S and I have the opportunity to upgrade the ECU software to the JCW software without buying the actual kit. I will not be fitting any other JCW components within the near future, although I am thinking about fitting the JCW CAI eventually. I am keen, but first wanted to find out if anyone has done this and what the result was?

Does anyone know of a logical reason why I shouldn't? Could it cause any problems if I have the JCW software without the JCW hardware? I personally can't see any reason not to, but it would be great to get a few opinions.

Thanks

SuperCharged

You should NOT be running the JCW ECU remap because it's meant for a supercharger with a reduction pulley.

There is NO ECU remap required for the JCW intake.

Yup, Miniac is right - JCW software is designed for a reduction pulley and larger injectors. You run the risk of damaging your engine if you run it.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

MINIAC, will the JCW intake flap still open at 4500RPM with the standard MCS ECU software?

Yes, as the JCW intake flap runs from vaccum.

JCW is designed to work on reduced pulley, CAI and exhaust and run a car with altered charger and injectors....altogether a different piece of kit than a stock S. It might not damage the engine but it will certainly run like an absolute dog!

MTH normal map for a stock car gives 190bhp estimated.

Fit a pulley CAI and cat back system and your looking at around 200-210 with the MTH tuner map.
