GTT Idler pulley size

Hi guys

Is the GTT idler pulley the same size as the stock BMW one?

Would it be smaller due to the smaller belt?

I have a rattle on the pulley side of the engine. Only on idle and sounds like metal "buzzing" together.

BMW seem to think its the idler pulley.

Cheers

Andy

I have the GTT fitted at the moment. BMW say its causing the noise.

Personally i say its the GTT stop bar thing OR the Crank pulley depending on what noise they say.....yes i have 2 noises

Sounds plausable - maybe the stopper needs tightening?

The GTT "stop bar" has caused rattles in a car I have seen, so it may be that.

Hi Guys, the noise is possibly the tensioner bar buzzing slightly at idle (its definatly not the GTT Idler Pulley). The fix is a small bead of clear silicon sealant around the lower fixing/pivot. This 'damps out' the buzz without restricting the pivoting action. You can (or we can ) apply it using a small long screwdriver (or similar) to get to it. Ensure engine is off though! We now always apply silicon automatically when fitting. The GTT Twin Bearing Idler Pulleys are available in stock diameter or oversize, the larger one gives marginally more wrap on the drive side of the SC pulley; useful with small SC pulleys to give more grip.
Best Regards Roland GTT

Cheers guys

The mini was in for warranty work on the passenger side wheel and the technician noticed it was making the buzzing.

After explaining that i had the smaller pulley, belt and other bits he decided that its not worth doing.

I too believe the buzzing to be the stop bar so i'll have a closer look with the silicone!

Cheers for your help
