Supercharger whine!

I'm addicted to the supercharger whine on my S (Works), really love it!

Wouldn't mind making it a bit louder and more pronounced though (just while accelerating and at 4000+revs, not while cruising). Is there a SIMPLE and cheap way to do this, without buying an Alta air intake or anything?

I want to keep it all JCW

Cheers - so this fits into the new JCW 210 airbox (with the 4500rpm flap on it)?

Have you heard one?

I've had one fitted today, sounds great!

However I went from a standard S with JCW box to a GTT220 with the airbox upgrade. So I was always going to get more whine from the pulley. Sounds awesome though.

Will do a proper write up once the new GTT discs/pads have bedded in and I've had a chance to drive it properly.

Sounds good Nick...but as you say it would always have been noiser/better as you've had the full job lot done!

Interested to hear from someone who's got the JCW210 box with the GTT filter?

A bit more info here:

Roland has changed the fitting slightly so that there are now three discreet black rivets visible on the outside of the box, looks very professional.

Just emailed Roland, and also TonyT3 (who has/had one).

Is this something Lohen could fit?! Think I'll also remove that endcap on the JCW box that that thread mentions. Don't want to compromise my warranty or TLC though!

Through trial and error, plus $. I've tested several products, your JCW airbox is quite good, and it tends to keep the noice down while you Rev up your engine. Here is what it comes down to.
The JCW box is made to keep things quiet but deliver good performance and it keeps HOT Air and dust from the engine bay from getting on your filter.

Try this firt, remove your air filter from inside the box. See if you get a louder whine. The filter used for the JCW Airbox is factory, you can replace it with a thiner but more filter and performace.
Other wise to hear the louder whine you will have to change to a K&N Typhone system or an Alta.
Another solution is Headers, where you will only hear the whine as you hit high RPM's. But the down side is that you will hear the Exhaust a bit louder.

Nick, makes a good point on that thread, check it out.

Hope this Help...

ENJOY..........!!!!!!!!!

Yup-a-mondo -

as you have said Mark it is the End cap that keep the noise inside the box. - The Hybrid loses this according to the info from GTT. This will allow more supercharger noise out into the open that would otherwise have been muffled. The higher flow rate of the new filter could get you a few extra ponies and smoother throttle

Cool...so basically if I don't get a louder whine with no filter in, then putting the GTT in won't do anything?

Am I ok to run up to redline with the engine warm, for like 10 mins, without an airfilter in place?!

I'll just try removing the endcap first then and seeing how I get on with that! How do you remove it?!

And I take it this endcap is different to the flap that opens at 4500rpm?

Running the engine with the filter removed from the JCW airbox or the end-cap removed from the filter runs the risk of sucking dirt particles into you engine ... not a very wise idea

I think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and order the GTT filter, keeping the endcap on...after talking to a couple of people they think I'll get a good increase in whine

I doubt you'll get much more whine. The increase in whine comes when the flap opens.

The intakes which produce the loudest whine are those which "remove" the partition between the engine bay and cowel area ... like the Alta and RDR.
