I'm not sure there have been any shootouts yet between the two devices. Would be interesting.

... I would go with the new intercooler that is fitted to the JCW GP, which is slightly larger than the on from the standard Mini Cooper S and as a spare part from BMW it is original and no warranty will be lost - only availability might be a problem.

It's unlikely you'll be able to order any GP parts without having a GP chassis number.

Also the GP I/C is not going to be in the same league as the GRS or DFIC and probably be more expensive too

Lately Ive been reading good things about the M7. Many MCS owners are quite happy with the IC, as long as it is installed correctly with out any leaks.

cost is the factor that dictates "best" the best would be a water cooled i/c - we are developing a brand new charge cooler with a fantastic core system capeable of coping with 10 bhp per inch of tubing (about the size of a cotton reel) so final size about 30 inches in total ,either 2 rows of 15 inches or 3 rows of 10 , but there, as always is a cost premium, these cores are not cheap and a radiator/tank/pump has to be added , ultimately any cooler can only cool to the ambient conditions so there is always a limit, but for high power applications water is the way to go as it can cope with 300+ bhp and still remain a reasonable size, also a factor is what you select today for the cars current power levels may not be adequate for any future power hikes and therefore you end up paying twice.
There is a lot of constant development for tuning the MINI engine and as stock items reach their limits ( throttle body -270) there will be new replacements, hence todays best - will become obsolete

But - if you were use aircon components and fill the system with refrigerant - you could get it even cooler...

yeah you could but you'd pay dear to spin the compressor , so even though a great idea ;it won't happen. now if you could run a compressor off energy already spent say out put shaft on tranny.....

are there any photos out there of the water to air in the process of being built ? why dont they expose the water lines of the i/c(our core) to air coming in scoop? just a question . is it just for looks? seems like it would cool better with lines exposed.
