DIY New JCW Race Filter

Based on the JCW Airfilter this version is stripped down for race use. The internal flap, mechanical parts and electronics have been removed so the extra intake is open permanetly for maximum performance. As used in the UK and overseas MINI Challenge.

I see they offer a new motorsport filter for the Cooper too. This has a narrower cone presumably to stop the rubbing issues that the old Pipercross one had.

It was acceptable in the 80's

I don't think you'll get that in the USA cause there is no JCW dealer located.

You will have to order directly from JCW in England

Totally agree - put one on my car on the weekend - and it is brilliant in terms of noise. totally addictive if you like that kind of thing.
Lots of other noises too - makes the cooper s sounds like a real FI car

The GTT item is better and cheaper than the Alta item

Flows better than the Alta item in tests, higher flow = more air in = better performance.

This is achieved because of the Ram Pipe that GTT use.

The price can be seen for yourself

Was there ever an Alta vs GTT intake comparison done? I remember seeing it vs the stock and JCW intake but not the Alta.

Either way I doubt the increase is noticeable from a drivers perspective maybe on paper. My mrs has a stock 06 MCS and added the Alta and it certainly picks up better now and sounds the dogs danglies

True, if you have the Alta probably not worth changing it, but if you are in the market for one why spend more on a product that is slightly worse

TBH there have never been figures published but Roland has said that the GTT is slightly better than the ALTA for flow. Make of that what you will.

I spoke to the JC team last week about this filter - has the same element as the normal JCW unit. - Just without the flap and electronic gubbins.

I'll be ordering one next week but also getting the GTT Element soon after.

Could you not

Simple take a stock airbox and cut a hole in the back? If the "Race" version is the JCW210 box with out the electronically actuated flap, can you not simply make a hole and have done?
Or does the JCW airbox have other tricks up it's sleeves?
