Offline | I installed a K&N direct induction filter and an Inferno direct flow exhaust. I really wouldn't know how much horsepower I gained, but I suspect that at least a couple. In my opinion, this modifications are simple and not expensive. You can install your stock filter box back anytime and you can solder your stock muffler in a couple of minutes. The end-result is great. The sound from the engine (which welcomes you everytime you open the gas) is way coooool and the exhaust note is enough to have ANY pedestrian and fellow driver notice you by... I am considering the idea of buying the Superchips modified ECU program, but at US$800 in Mexico, I doub't I'll do it before buying a new set of 17" wheels! Now if you are really looking for 400hp-like acceleration with your Mini, I would suggest stripping off all of the Mini's metal body parts and driving it downhill in San Francisco at full throttle (be sure to install a big-brake kit before you try it) ![]() Cheers!! Offline | Use the web. Do your research. There are a whole lot of items for sale that do not do as they claim. Look for independent tests that confirm or deny the claims of the manufacturer. Remember, MINI/BMW has spent a whole lot of time and money to develope the car as a complete package. Some low-budget exhaust or filter company isn't necessarily going to improve the performance. Be suspect of anyone claiming large, 10% - 15%, increases for simple inexpensive changes. There are several post on here that show significant decreases from what would be considered normal hop-up modifications. In spite of the delicious sound they produce. I guess it depends on whether you want to go faster or just think you are going faster. Motor on, Dudes and Dudettes!!! '06 MCS SB/S '02 MCS DS/W (retired) |
