Are induction kits worth fitting on a COOPER S

Ive just bought a mini cooper s and its got a modified head ,larger ,intercooler ,full performance exhuast,220 hp chip etc,but its got no induction kit so i wounderd if its not been fitted for a reason.also is it better to have a mist spray system fitted instead or both.

Its definately a mod worth while, especially as your car has alot of engine mods and
the next step for you in my opinion would be to get a good CAI.

Cold Air Induction (CAI) - can be a worthwhile addition - anything that helps the engine breathe better is a bonus. - More air in - equals better combustion - more power - better effciency.

Which tuner supplied the Head, IC etc?

Things to consider - do you want noise? - do you want mind the look of aftermarkt kit in your engine bay - or prefer a more standard look. -These factors will help you decide

Maybe there is already a K&N panel filter inside the air box??? Which is considerably better than the OEM filter.
But adding a CAI will obviously be better again. There is plenty out there, its just a matter of which one ticks your boxes as Tony said-Noise-Discreetness ETC

Hi Foxworth, try checking out our GTT Cold Ram Induction kit on our website. Theres a lot of info on it there too. I would say the stock airbox you have is holding up the power, even more so on a highly modded S.!

all i can say is that i fitted the alta CIA intake (cheers T-Bone) over the weekend and i LOVE it, the car seems more responsive and the noise ooooooohhhhhhh the noise makes the car finally sound like a supercharged one should.

- Glad your loving it mate - must say - I really loved it too - but don't think i could handle it all the time. Just wanted to try it out for myself rather than just going by the opinions of other peeps. I have to say my car does now lack a little of the urge it had when it was on. Still pulls well - especially due the little GTT work I had done - but find myself pressing the go-go pedal harder to get the noise I had with the ALTA

Will get something to replace it soon - most probably the JCW race filter and get a GTT element put in. - Think that will suit my style.

When fitting the GTT Cold Ram kit we normally make 2x 50mm holes in the plastic divider . If you prefer very quiet operation use without holes or for a slight noise use 25mm holes.
You can always start with no holes and increase number/size until its singing at the volume you like.

alta was very easy took about 1 hour and is a nice install and also you dont have to drill any holes as you use all the ones that are already there :-) so if you ever want to put it back to standard you can with NO problems of having to replace parts :-)

Would you recommend more than 2 x 50mm holes?
