| MINI2 Regular | mini cuts out on idle sometimes?? Ive just got a mini cooper s and it seems great but occaisonaly when you are idleing or just on tick over ,say for instance when you come to a set of lights it sometimes cuts out. This only happens occaisonaly and only on idle. The rev counter shows on idle that its about 900 rpm or just under the first mark.Has anyone any idears what it could be,or how i can rectify the problem.also are the super chargers quite winy as mine sound quite noisy when your out of the car and you can realy hear the sort of sucking sound from the monnet scoop. |

Offline | You have a JCW right - I do believe that supercharger whine is more prominent in them. If your really worried - take her into the dealership. MY05 MINI COOPER S - DS/B - GTT OPTIMISED- THANKS FOR THE RIDE - ENTER THE R56 JCW |

Offline | I have a JCW S with the same thing. I thought at first I had released clutch, but I think not. The whine is there, but it just means you're making more ponies. I will talk to the dealer about sticking a bit more into the 1500-2000 band. I hear a 15% underdrive on the supercharger does the trick but there goes the waranty on the SC. What ever the grief at 900 rpm, there is great joy at 134 mph ( and I think the boost was still coming on) cheers !! |

Offline | The JCW supercharger already has a 14.2 or 14.6% reduction pulley on it already - so not worth invalidating your warranty just to make it 15% - in real world terms there is no perceivable difference. MY05 MINI COOPER S - DS/B - GTT OPTIMISED- THANKS FOR THE RIDE - ENTER THE R56 JCW |

| MINI2 Regular | my engine Sorry guys ,im not lucky enough to have a JCW its a modified cooper s.but ive been talking to a glued up chap who uses this site and he has told me that as i have a lightend fly wheel and different cam amoung other things it just needs a little blip occaisonaly if at the lights etc just to keep the revs up,not that it stalls all the while as i said, infact it didnt at all last night but i guess its just a style of driving im going to have to get used to.cheers foz |
