Exhaust replacement (Milltek)

Hi all, I have a 2003 Cooper and the bax box is blowing, so need a replacement cat-back exhaust. The OEM one is £297, and a Milltek is £209 so an easy choice really. (My dealer also said that the sports silencer is no longer available - although they are pretty useless)

I like the Milltek, and had a look on the Milltek site, but the local stockists dont fit it (only supply).

Does anyone know somewhere Mids/E.Mids that would fit these ? Also whats the difference between the 'Special' and the 'Meteor' tips ? Has anyone got one fitted to a Mini Copper ? (not the 'S') - would love to see pics of the tips.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers.

I had my Miltek fitted to my MCSC by Lohen, they're based in Staffs and they sponsor this site:

Theres a chap on local midlands MINI site called Buzz. He has a Cooper and I am sure he has a milltek cat back on his. Not sure if he is on here though?! It looks and sounds awesome. Almost as good as my full Milltek system i have on my S. Its loud when you want it to be. I am being truthful when I say it purrs like a cat on gentle throttle and it roars like a lion thats been poked with a big stick in the bottom when the rioght foot goes to the floor. You'll love it!

BTW just about anywhere can fit the cat back system to the MINI. Its a simple job if they have ramp. just make sure they seal the centre pipe well as thats prone to blowing.

The difference in tips is that one is a limited edition tip I think. It was heat tinted so it looks like its been getting really hot (very fake sporty) but looks good. I think this is what Buzz has on his, I assume its the meteor tip as it looks a bluey red 'meteor' colour??!

Hope its a quality piece of kit !

Milltek Fitted

Went to AMD tuning in Bicester yesterday and got my Milltek Cat-Back exhaust fitted to replace the blowing Mini exhaust.

They are doing 'free' fitting at the moment, so it ended up cheaper than a genuine OEM replacement, and cheaper than going to kwik-fit (but still flippin' expensive).

Can thoroughly recommend AMD, a nice place to hang out with sofa's large screen T.V. and a couple of massage chairs ! It was a 180 mile round trip, but worth it.

Exhaust sounds quite nice, a little deeper at low revs, and a little bit louder throughout the rev range. We kept winding th windows down whenever we slowed for a roundabout or turning so we could hear the Zorst.

OK, so thats wheels and zorst replaced, what next......

Cheers.

Hi Matt,

The AMD website gave one cost, I had another cost given on the phone, but the final cost was £273. The website at the moment says £303 fitted including vat in the main product bit, but if you go to the AMD store, its £273 without fitting, which is what I was charged, with free fitting.

Not sure if this still applies, so you might want to call them.

I cant remember where the £209 came from, but total cost was £273 as mentioned.

Cheers.

Matt, just realised you have a Cooper S from your pic, mine is the Cooper, so costs will be completely different.
