Offline | The jcw head for the one /cooper is not that much different from stock, standard cam, standard valves, not cc adjusted, not skimmed, and only ported at the port outer areas its a lot cheaper to put a badge on A well reworked head can make up to 16 bhp on the one and cooper and allow a larger bore exhaust to work properly, cost between £400 and £800 dependent on what size valves fitted. The cooper s head is principly the same as the cooper but the supercharger moves more air through the engine and that is why the exhaust is of a larger bore |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Interestingly I own (well just sold) a Cooper Works 132BHP version and with that head the exhaust and open air filter it made a healthy 141BHP and fully warrantied. As yet this is unbeaten by any tuner for head, exhaust and filter work on a Cooper. So it's not as bad as you'd think Sadly this conversion was only available for a very limited time due to noise regulations. The later version only had 122BHP due to a more restrictive exhaust. This was then replaced by the sound kit. The sound kit has the same exhaust and open filter as the 132BHP car but without the head. That only releases 2 or 3 BHP over standard so the head has a lot to answer for. Sadly unavailble now so the aftermarket is the only option. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |
