Offline | JCW exhaust hi everyone i am considering fitting just the JCW exhaust on my S, mainly for warranty purposes and to improve the system. how much would fitting be from the dealers and would there be improvement on noise and performance?? thanks in advance for replies ![]() |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Performance wise I doubt you'd have any real difference over standard. May free up a couple of BHP at best without ECU mods to match. Fitting from a dealer would probably be expensive too. I'd go aftermarket as a) the exhaust hasn't got much of a warranty anyway being a wear and tear item and b) there is a habit with JCW exhausts of the baffles coming loose inside causing rattling after a period of time. The exhaust would not invalidate your warranty on its own as MINI would need to prove that it's fitment caused an issue. Being that there isn't a lot connected to the exhaust you should have no worries. Most decent aftermarket exhausts come with a lifetime warranty too. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

| MINI2 Regular | youll be very lucky to get MINI to fit it as you can only buy JCW parts if you are registered to have JCW. I have been through this from MINI so i would assume it is the same principle for fitting. Unless you have the proof that the JCW is for your car they may not do it for you. Fitting is pretty simple anyway so give it a go your self?? Hope that helps Ben |

Offline | i was also worried about the TLC package and if aftermarket products would render it void. if it does not and from the advice given, i will go with the aftermarket option for sure. |

Offline | Not entirely true. If you know the parts manager or know the part numbers (sorry I don't know them), you can make up the parts of the JCW exhaust yourself. I got the JCW exhaust on it's own, by asking the part manager at bmw to order in all the parts in the JCW exhaust and put one together for me. So it can be done if you want it. ![]() |

Offline | I've got the JCW exhaust and JCW airbox fitted (at the same time), and the difference is quite noticeable over stock. The car breathes soooo much better at high RPM's now (I can hold 5K easily without worrying about the constipated feeling the standard S setup seemed to give off), and the sound is much deeper and throatier. The supercharger whine above 4,500 rpm is like angels singing. I recon I've gained about 10-14 bhp with this setup.![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | No, the only thing is that they wouldn't be able to change the airfilter when it is serviced. Other than that will not affect the servicing of the car and therefore the TLC. Besides, not changing the airfilter saves them money. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |
